Favorite Things: Part 1

SF. Period.
370
I came up with the idea to update my blog with a few of my favorite things. This will force me to update in between posts of events or outings I may have, as well as let some of you in on what I like. So just be ready for a few updates like these every now and again.

I decided to begin with San Francisco. (Full blog to hopefully follow soon).
I just so happened to be lucky enough to get a weekend off from work the exact time Desiree was able to go up north to visit family in Sacramento. Though Sacramento was very fun, and the purpose of the trip, We decided to try and make a day trip to SF.

I already love begin on vacation. Going out and seeing new things, I love every moment. San Francisco was a brand new experience. We were the biggest tourists you could imagine, without being from another country. Six hours was all it took for me to get hooked on the city. In my head, I knew we wouldn't be able to do a lot, but I had no idea how much more I wanted to do. I loved just being there, in a city that felt full of life. We left needing more. The drive back to Sacramento was somewhat somber, in that we both knew we didn't want to leave.

We'll be back again though. Planned and ready to do anything and everything. This leads me to my next favorite thing.

Traveling. Vacations. Being anywhere else but the familiar.

I love capturing moments that I may forget. I enjoy looking back and recalling memories that I would otherwise leave behind. But there is something about being on vacation that fills me with energy and emotion that enables me to be ready and willing to do just about anything. With a camera or not, I find myself thinking back and wishing I was on vacation again.

Mike V's Birthday

We Stick to our Roots
021

Mike V celebrated his 23rd birthday, and what better way to party than to bring it back to his childhood.
(there's only one person I'd only button the top button on my flannel for, and that's Mike V)

Theme was set, drinks were ready, shanks were sharp, so we were ready to party.
017
This is how hood I get.

Party was kick back, played a few games, shared a few laughs, but enough talking because everyone just wants to see their pictures anyways.

(but not me! because just like gangsters don't dance, I stay straight hood)

Happy Birthday Mike. I personally had a good time. The shots captured some good times. As much as everyone thinks you're a straight up THUG, I know you're only kind of a thug. So cheers to you.

oh..but a side note, I went home and watched the Biebs episode of Glee, and with all the flannel at the party, we could have been in the anthem finale.
We just had a Glee party. BAM!

Best Reason for a Comeback Post

Happy Birthday to Ms. Desiree
053
As of now, I am dating an older woman! (only for the next week and a half)
Desiree turned twenty-something this year and she just so happened to want to celebrate it a few times over. Besides me showering her with gifts and junk, it began at Lola Gaspar in the heart of Santa Ana's up and coming arts district. Big thanks to the cousins, along with Lily and Melissa, that came out that night.
012
I must say the food was really good, if you're a fan of tapas style fare. After dinner, dinner conversations, and laughs, the future optometrists and I headed to Proof to grab a few drinks. Cool vibes all around, but if you're looking for a night to go to Proof, be sure to check out Pudding, every Saturday night.

Night one, Fin.
(Btw, I totally surprised Desiree with a fantastic bouquet of roses. I'm good to the florist at work, she hooked it up)

As for the next day, I had way too much planned for the time I was given while Desiree was at clerkship. I even skipped out on the gym, just for her. Instead, I picked up a dozen Sprinkles Cupcakes, I had custom ordered the day before, because that's how I do it.
Pomona to Newport and back, during rush hour= Sucks.

Absolutely worth it though.

Made it back just in time, (four hours total, just to pick up cupcakes) to head to sunny San Diego. Booked a room at the Omni Hotel, right in the gaslamp. Definitely hoping to pick up a room here for Comic-Con. Didn't have much time to get ready but surprisingly the girls pulled through. Passed around the cocktails and cupcakes. Snapped some shots, and headed out the door to stingaree.

And this is how we got things rolling at Stingaree...084
It worked out to where everyone bought a round or two for the group. Needless to say, good times. Stingaree is absolutely legit though. Three stories and multiple bars. I got pretty comfortable on a rooftop lounge area. Earl got pretty comfortable with a couple of girls, at least tried to until Desiree and the other girls returned from the ladies powder room.

First shot was the birthday cake.
Second shot was kamikaze.
Third shot was uhhh...
Yay for pictures!

Who are the two on the left? Just because I have a camera does not mean I will take your picture.

In defense of Desiree, she didn't do anything to be a CB, she just walked up and the polite little girls scurried off)

Happy Birthday Desiree. I hope you enjoyed it, and thank you to everyone that shared their time with her and me.
